Shore United Bank is happy to congratulate Mary Beth Deale on 20 years of service. Mary Beth began her career with the bank in June of 2002 at the West Street branch in Annapolis, MD. Currently, she holds the role of Senior Loan Servicing Specialist, helping to complete new loan audits, handling flood compliance post-closing audits, and handling mortgage insurance monthly disbursements on existing loans. 

As a former pastry cook, Mary Beth came into banking with little experience. She began on the front line and shortly after moved into loan servicing.  

“Following the merger of Severn Bank into Shore United Bank, I had the opportunity of a new position, completely out of my comfort zone. I like the new position, because I am once again learning something new and now get to be involved with so much more of the loan process,” says Mary Beth regarding her recent title change.  

“Mary Beth is one of the hardest working, dedicated, loyal and conscientious employees I have had on my team, and it is a pleasure to work with her,” said Debbie Allen, Mary Beth’s supervisor and Loan Servicing Manager at Shore United Bank.  

“I would like to think I bring the best I can in quality and customer service, which has always been a mainstay with me in any job I perform. I love learning new tasks at work which has helped me understand and learn the processes within the department and others as well,” explains Mary Beth regarding the value she brings to the team.  

Beyond her responsibilities in the workplace, Mary Beth enjoys crafting and gardening. Born and raised in Annapolis, MD, she has two children and two grandchildren.

Shore United Bank is happy to congratulate Andy Rossetti on 20 years of service. Andy began his career with the bank in February of 2002 at the Felton branch. In 2008 he transitioned from the lending side of banking into Information Technology. Currently, he holds the role of IT Security and Compliance Officer.

As a graduate of the University of Delaware, Andy holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and is also a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) – ISACA. In his current role, he is responsible for the Information Security Program, which includes security awareness training (internally and externally), policy creation and maintenance, adherence to best practices and regulatory requirements, as well as other risk management and incident response tasks.

Andy brings enthusiasm to his field of specialty. “I love what I do and my job gives me a platform to share my passion with individuals inside and outside of the company,” says Andy, who also gives back to the community by sharing security and fraud prevention information with an array of organizations. “I think my passion and love for what I do lends significant credibility to the messages I share security-wise,” he adds.

“In 2008, Andy joined the Information Technology Department as our Information Security Officer. Since then, he has implemented a rigorous security program, risk assessment process and ongoing security education for employees and the community,” said Fritz Kade, Shore United Bank’s Chief Information Officer. “Andy’s banking experience and security knowledge has made him a highly valued member of our department,” he added.

Beyond his responsibilities in the workplace, Andy likes to spend his free time watching the Miami Dolphins and Miami Hurricanes while also taking cruise vacations or spending time near a beach or open water. More importantly, he enjoys spending time with his family; wife (Terri), three children (Megan, Leigh Ann, and Kevin) and stepson (Grant).

Shore United Bank is happy to congratulate David Thompson on 45 years of service. David began his career with the bank in January 1977, just after graduating from West Virginia Wesley College with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He began his career by working in bookkeeping, customer service, and on the front line, but has held many other positions such as Branch Manager and Relationship Manager.

David’s current position is a Consumer Loan and Mortgage Underwriter, with his primary responsibility to administer the bank’s indirect loan program that began in May of 2019. He also assists with Shore United Bank’s retail marine lending program as well. “I receive great satisfaction working with all our associates in the branches and departments. As a team, we treat each other with common respect and work well together to achieve our objectives. With our combined knowledge and experience, we provide a solid quality of service to our company and customers,” explained David.

“David exemplifies what it means to be a community banker. He has lived in and supported the Eastern Shore community his entire life. He continually gets calls from customers he has developed relationships with over the past 45 years who are seeking his advice. David values those relationships, treating both customers and co-workers like family,” expressed David Allen, Shore United Bank’s Consumer Loan Manager.

As a part of the Eastern Shore community, David Thompson has been a part of an array of local organizations. He has served on the Queen Anne’s County Board of Directors, the Queen Anne’s Chamber of Commerce, the Centreville Masonic Lodge #180, been the Treasurer of the Queen Anne’s County Free Library, and a past President of the Eastern Shore Chapter of the Bank Administration Institute.

Beyond his many accomplishments and extracurriculars, David enjoys traveling with family and friends. He is the father of three children (Allen, Ryan, and Stephanie) and grandfather to six (Logan, Michael, McKenzie, Waylon, Rylan and Evie).

He also likes spending his free time outdoors. “As most Eastern Shoremen, I have enjoyed hunting and fishing most of my life, but my greatest recreational interest is cycling with groups and participating in events,” said David on how he occupies his spare time. David and his wife Geri, a retired educator in Queen Anne’s County, reside in Centreville with their 13-year-old Yorkie named Izzie.

Shore United Bank is happy to congratulate Laura Sonberg on 20 years of service. Laura began her career with the Bank in January of 2002 in Deposit Operations. Since the start of her career with Shore United Bank, she has also held positions such as Electronic Banking Representative and her current role of BSA Specialist II in the BSA/Compliance Department.

In her current role, Laura’s responsibilities include reviewing and reporting suspicious activity, monitoring high risk customers, and making sure branches comply with banking rules and regulations by reviewing important documents and managing risk. “My job is always exciting. Fraud cases and CTRs keep me very busy and can be very interesting, mainly because each day brings something different. There’s never a dull moment in the BSA Department,” explains Laura regarding her daily duties.

“Laura is an experienced and devoted banker. Her hard work and dedication are greatly appreciated and she is a valued member of our Shore United Bank team,” expressed Cassie Guy, Compliance Officer at Shore United Bank.

Beyond her daily duties at work, Laura also loves helping others. “I am always willing to learn new things and will drop what I’m doing to help anyone who needs it,” Laura explains. She even gets involved with her local community by scheduling Shred Days and volunteering at Caroline Summerfest in Denton each year.

As a mother of two, Laura loves spending time with her children and, in particular, shopping with her daughter, Kristy. She also likes to spend her free time reading and playing with her dogs. Laura and her husband, Nick, live in Greensboro, MD.

Shore United Bank is happy to congratulate Gina Paul on 35 years of service. Gina began her career with the Bank in September of 1986 as a Bookkeeping Clerk at the Commerce Street branch in Centreville, formerly Centreville National Bank.  Since that time, Gina has held other positions with the bank as Customer Service Representative, Assistant Manager, Branch Manager, and Internal Auditor. Currently, Ms. Paul is a Systems Administrator and Support Specialist, managing the workflow in the IT Department.

Gina is responsible for providing first-level problem determination and analysis with quick and efficient resolutions of all technical issues on the Help Desk’s supported platforms, serving as the primary administrator for various systems of Shore Bancshares and subsidiaries.

“Every support call is different, that’s what makes my job exciting. It also helps to create and retain good workplace relationships,” Gina responded when asked why she likes her job.

Extremely aware of her determination, friendliness and dependability, Gina’s supervisor, Fritz Kade, Chief Information Officer at Shore United Bank, had a lot to say about her contributions to their team:

“Gina is the backbone of the IT Department. If she can’t resolve an issue, she elicits support from other members of the team or learns how to resolve the issue independently. Her greatest strength is her completion orientation and customer service.”

With an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration from Chesapeake College, Gina is also a 2008 graduate of Maryland Bankers School.  In her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities such as scuba diving, archery, hiking, and playing softball.

This September, Shore United Bank is ‘going Purple’ in support of the Herren Project’s initiative to provide communities with resources and support for the treatment, recovery and prevention of Substance Use Disorder.

In an effort to create awareness to the dangers of substance use, encourage positive decision-making to navigate life’s challenges and break the stigma of addiction, each branch will be decorated with purple décor, wearing purple on Fridays, and sharing useful resources for those whose lives may be impacted by this epidemic.

The tellers at Shore United Bank will be placing Substance Use Disorder resource cards in all currency envelopes to be handed to bank customers. These cards contain trigger questions and a URL for access to an array of sources covering all parties affected, from people battling the disorder, to the families of these individuals.

“There’s no reason to feel shame in asking for help. This program is starting a conversation that may save a life,” says Shore United Bank, Market Executive, Heather Bacher. Heather is also involved in QAC Goes Purple, a substance use awareness project in Queen Anne’s County led by the QAC Office of the Sheriff and the QAC Drug-Free Coalition, based upon the ideas of the Herren Project.

By placing resource cards into envelopes, customers will have discrete access to beneficial resources and information to create awareness, learn how and where to seek treatment, cope with the effects of addiction on their lives, and understand how to handle difficult situations related to Substance Abuse Disorder.

“Substance Use Disorder continues to destroy our communities and while this used to be a taboo subject, the initiatives of the Project Purple have made the topic more acceptable to discuss. The work we’re all doing to create awareness goes deep into our businesses, schools and our entire community,” explains Bacher.

In addition to their individual efforts, Shore United Bank has partnered with QAC Goes Purple and Talbot Goes Purple to further support the initiatives of the Herren Project and the fight to prevent Substance Use Disorder.

Shore United Bank is happy to congratulate Chad Cronshaw on 20 years of service. Chad began his career with the Bank in July of 2001 as a Floating Teller, based in Stevensville. Since that time, Chad has held other positions with the bank as Teller, Head Teller, CSR and Assistant Branch Manager.

Currently, Mr. Cronshaw is the Branch Manager of the Centreville Road Branch in Centreville, MD.  Chad is responsible for managing and overseeing branch operations, leading his team to achieve their deposit and loan goals, and contributing to community service initiatives.

”Chad’s branch management experience and knowledge is a significant asset to the Bank. He is dedicated to his customers,  community and team,” explains Jen Joseph, Chief Retail Banking Officer at Shore United Bank.

A 2017 graduate of Maryland Banking School, Chad loves his job. “Every day I get the opportunity to help someone. Whether it’s just a quick question about their account, helping someone get a mortgage, or working with the public is a great blessing,” says Chad.

Chad resides in Centreville with his wife Melissa and children Cole (9) and Maci (6). He enjoys hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.

Shore United Bank is pleased to announce their $10,000 sponsorship to help support the Operation Frederick Douglass on the Hill project which is planned to be unveiled Saturday, September 4^th. The project, a 24×8 foot mural of Frederick Douglass painted by world-renowned artist Michael Rosato, costs around $50,000 which was the initial fundraising goal.
