Shore United Bank Welcomes Christopher Sloan, CTP as Relationship Manager

Shore United Bank is proud to announce that Christopher Sloan has joined the Company as Vice President, Relationship Manager and will be working from our Denton, MD branch. Chris joins Shore United Bank with sixteen (16) years of financial and banking experience, with most of his time focused on business development across a variety of regions.

“We’re thrilled to have Chris join our team. He understands the challenges businesses face and brings value by offering operational efficiencies to their business. His interest to connect with people and help others achieve their goals is what makes him a good community banker,” says Butch Townsend, Market Executive for Shore United Bank.

He resides in Denton, Maryland with his wife, Dianne. Chris enjoys an array of hobbies such as golf, cycling, reading, and cooking.

Dawn Brode Celebrates 25 Years with Shore United Bank

Shore United Bank (the “Bank”) is happy to congratulate Dawn Brode on 25 years of service. Dawn began her career with the Bank in June of 1996 as a Sales Associate at our Cambridge, MD branch.  Since that time, Dawn has held other positions with the bank as assistant branch manager and branch manager.  Currently, Ms. Brode is a Vice President, Consumer Mortgage Loan Underwriter at our Credit Administration Department in Easton, MD.  Dawn is responsible for reviewing loan requests from borrowers and completing the underwriting responsibilities to adhere to our bank policies and guidelines.

Dawn has a bachelor’s degree in market management from Goldey-Beacom College.  She is also a graduate of Maryland Bankers School and Shore Leadership and has a general banking diploma from the American Institute of Banking.  In her free time, Dawn volunteers with various organizations to help support local community initiatives.

“Dawn’s branch management experience and knowledge is a significant asset to our team,” says Charlie Rich, Senior Vice President and Chief Credit Officer.

Dawn resides in Woolford, MD with her husband George.  She enjoys spending time with her animals, reading and going to the beach.

Shore United Bank Employees Show Appreciation to Local Nurses

Each year, Shore United Bank selects three employees to participate in Maryland Bankers Association Emerging Leaders program.  This year Michael Nickerson, Senior Systems Engineer, Kevin Schwaninger, Senior Credit Analyst and Laura Reeder, Denton Branch Manager were selected to participate.

The structured leadership program is tailored to meet the needs of Maryland banks and bankers by becoming involved in leadership development, peer networking and learning sessions with industry, community and advocacy leaders.

Each year the program participants are asked to develop a community service project to help support the local community.  This year the team collected items to donate to the frontline workers in our local hospitals who have been working extra hours due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We thank the University of Maryland Medical Center leaders who dedicate their time and talents to help others.  Additional thanks to Shore United Bank employees and customers who graciously donated non-perishable snacks, drinks and money towards the purchase of these items.

Daphne Wagner Celebrates 35 Years with Shore United Bank

Shore United Bank (the “Bank”) is happy to congratulate Daphne Wagner on 35 years of service. Daphne began her career with the Bank in May of 1986 as a Teller at the Tred Avon Square, Easton, MD branch. Currently, Ms. Wagner is the Assistant Branch Manager at the Elliott Road branch in Easton, MD.  Daphne is responsible for the daily operations and support of the team and customers from opening accounts to handling loan requests.

Daphne is a graduate of the Maryland Bankers School.  Over the last six years, she has volunteered to help with the Festival of Trees to support Hospice.

“Daphne is an experienced banker and a good listener who is able to guide customers and employees through complex situations to bring a positive outcome to all involved,” says Kim Kastel, Vice President and Branch Manager, Elliott Road branch.

Daphne resides in Easton, MD with her husband Joe. They have two children Carlie Jo and Ethan Joseph who both live in Easton.  She enjoys spending time with her grandson and pets and spending time outdoors taking hikes, gardening and going to the beach to collect seashells.

Laura Heikes Recognized for 35 Years of Service with Shore United Bank

Shore United Bank is honored to recognize Laura Heikes for 35 years of service to the Company. Laura started her career with the Bank in April of 1986 as an assistant comptroller at our Dover Street, Easton, MD branch. Over her 35 years, she has held many positions with the Bank such as, manager of loan services, officer of compliance and security, branch administration, operations and conversion coordinator.  Mrs. Heikes currently serves as a Senior Vice President of Shore United Bank, and our Government and Community Relations Officer and will be retiring from the Company on April 28, 2021.

Laura lives her commitment to the community by currently serving with the following organizations: Chairperson and Founding Member for the Talbot County Public Schools Education Foundation, Talbot County Fair Board,  Member of Talbot County Soroptimist Club,  Talbot County Chamber Ambassador, Vice Chair of the Talbot County Extension Board, Member of the Talbot County Hunger Coalition,  Member of the Talbot County Chamber Partners in Education Committee, Founding Board member of Junior Achievement in Talbot County.  She also volunteers for the following organizations: Talbot Goes Purple, Talbot County and Queen Ann County Fairs, Mid-Shore Community Foundation, Character Counts, 4-H, FFA, Talbot County Farm Bureau, His Hope Haven, Neighborhood Service Center and many more.

In addition to her work as a community partner, Laura is a 2015 graduate of Shore Leadership and was honored with the Maryland You Are Beautiful Award in 2015 and 2014 Business Woman of the Year by the Talbot County Chamber of Commerce.

“Being a community banker is by no means a nine to five job.  To be a true community banker you need to be active in the community and connect with your customers to help improve the communities we live in,” says Laura Heikes, Senior Vice President of Shore United Bank, and our Government and Community Relations Officer.

“We wish Laura well as she enters this new chapter in her life.  Laura has been dedicated to supporting the needs of her customers and our communities for over 35 years and she will be greatly missed. Laura resides in St. Michaels, MD with her husband, Ed. She has two children, Kate and Jed and two grandchildren Peyton Skye and Bailey Claire. When not volunteering in the community, Laura loves spending time entertaining family and friends and enjoys being a “Mimi” to many, especially her two grandchildren.

David began his career with the Bank in March of 1991 as Assistant Vice President at our Dover Street, Easton, MD branch. Currently, Mr. Morse is an Executive Vice President and Legal Counsel for the Bank and Secretary and General Counsel of Shore Bancshares, Inc.  David provides legal counsel and advice about regulations, contracts and a wide range of legal matters that support the goals of the Bank.

Shore United Bank is proud to announce that Kim Kastel has joined the Company as a Vice President Branch Manager at our Elliott Road Office in Easton, Maryland. She joins Shore United Bank with thirty-one (31) years of banking and business development experience, twenty-five (25) of those years in branch management and six (6) years in wealth management.

“We are thrilled to have Kim join our team. She is a strong leader and customer focused.  She is deeply involved in the community, enjoys collaborating with her team, and helping customers,” says Jennifer Joseph, Chief Retail Banking Officer for Shore United Bank.

“I look forward to working with my new team and building strong relationships with customers and businesses in the community,” says Ms. Kastel.

Kim is a past board member of the Talbot County Chamber and volunteers with Character Counts and Junior Achievement to teach elementary and high school students the importance of financial literacy.  She also volunteers her time with a local daycare center to help children read and work on their social skills. She resides in St. Michaels, Maryland with her fiancé Mike, and three sons Carter, Connor and Kyle and a yellow lab named Eva.  Kim enjoys cooking, traveling, going to the beach, hiking, gardening and anything outdoors.

Brian joins Shore United Bank with six (6) years of digital media, publishing, web and graphic design experience. Brian will oversee social media, website and email marketing for the bank and its investment division.

Mr. Saucedo has a bachelor’s degree in marketing and is also a graduate of Chesapeake College where he earned an associate degree in liberal arts with a PC technician certificate.

“We are excited about having Brian join our marketing team. His creative insight and digital media experience will be a great asset to our organization,” says Debra Rich, Chief Marketing & Project Officer for Shore United Bank.

Kate Walters Celebrates 25 Years with Shore United Bank

Shore United Bank is proud to congratulate Kate Walters on twenty-five (25) years of service. Ms. Walters began her career with the Bank in December of 1995 in loan operations located in Centreville, Maryland.   Over her career she has held various positions, working in the mortgage division and multiple leadership positions.  Kate’s current position is Asst. Vice President Loan Servicing Manager, where she is responsible for ensuring loan records are maintained with accuracy and prepares management and regulatory reporting.

Ms. Walters attended Chesapeake College where she earned an associate degree in Business Administration.

“Kate has years of loan experience, regulatory and reporting knowledge that makes her a vital team member. Her familiarity of the communities we serve and those who reside in our area are an asset.” says Jamie Dulin, Senior Loan Operations Officer.

Ms. Walters has served on the boards for Caroline and Dorchester Co. Fair and Caroline Lacrosse Association.  She also participates in various community initiatives around the holidays serving children in need.  Kate resides in Ridgely, MD with her husband Mike and her two children, Kelsey and Hunter. She enjoys watching football and lacrosse, camping, shopping and relaxing at the beach with her family.

Debbie Davis Celebrates 40 Years with Shore United Bank

Shore United Bank is proud to congratulate Debbie Davis on forty (40) years of service. Ms. Davis began her career with the Bank in December of 1980 in the operations bookkeeping/proof department in Easton, Maryland.   She later held various positions including Supervisor, Operations Bookkeeping, Manager of the Electronic Banking Department and as an Internal Auditor.  Debbie’s current position is Senior Loan Origination Specialist where she is responsible for loan review, loan qualifications and provides support functions related to loan account maintenance, research and assisting customers with questions about their loans.

Throughout Debbie’s tenure with the bank, she completed several banking courses with Markland Bankers Association, Dale Carnegie courses and numerous banking seminars related to her position.

“Debbie has years of banking experience and problem solving with a true understanding of the importance of accuracy and how it impacts the bank.  She has a positive attitude and enjoys helping others understand all sides of an issue making her an asset to our team,” says Jamie Dulin, Senior Loan Operations Officer.

Ms. Davis resides in East New Market, MD with her husband PJ and has a stepson, Troy and a granddaughter Addie. She enjoys traveling gardening and spending time with her family.
