Kent County High School Staff were tasked with building a bicycle on their first day back from Summer Vacation on August 17th. The teachers and assistants were split up into 8 teams that were sponsored by local businesses. Once each team built their 20-inch Atlantic Tractor bicycle and had it inspected, they were surprised with 8 elementary school students from across the county to accept this gift. Tracey Williams, Principal of Kent County High School, said “it was the best start to school in my 25 years because my staff worked together renewing their commitment to work as a team AND we gave back to the community”. She stated that she received numerous statements from staff echoing this sentiment. Brenda Rose, Principal of Rock Hall Elementary, commented that one of the recipients proudly rode his bike to Open House on August 19th to show her.
KCHS would like to thank the following businesses for their generous donation which made this event possible: Atlantic Tractor, Dixon Valve, Efficient Home, FAM&M Insurance, Kingstown Farm, Home & Garden, The Peoples, Bank, Red Acres Farm, and Whiting Turner.
