Looking towards new innovations to amplify teaching techniques in Kent County school classrooms, Supervisor of Technology Dan MacLeod is pleased with KCPS’s success in receiving a $400,000 grant from the state.
The grant, given by the O’Malley Administration, is helping provide students with laptops, iPads and Chromebooks along with software and training for teachers, and will help teachers address the individual needs of each student in a classroom rather than a generalized agenda for all.
Discussing the software, MacLeod says that “it’s quite rigorous, based on common core requirements. One student can be working at a 3rd grade level while another next to him might be working at 7th grade while working within the same program.”
The Spy caught up with MacLeod to learn about the grant, the program, and how the future looks for a technologically enhanced Kent County school system.

We are so fortunate to have Dan as our technology supervisor. He was a well respected, energetic teacher so we know that he understands the challenges of teaching. He is always responsive, professional and supportive. He is an incredible asset to our school community, as is his staff.
