“We don’t have a strategy yet.” Well that’s one hell-of-an admission from a president of the United States on an issue that has dominated the news for several months. The Islamic State (IS), as it’s referred to, is actually an army of more than 15,000 fighters that has already swept across major parts of Syria and Iraq.
Their objective is to establish a worldwide caliphate (a Moslem state), and it is doing it one country at a time. Meanwhile it’s been reported that more than 100 Americans with U.S. passports are fighting with the IS forces. This means that they can also reenter the United States with little difficulty, and they have the potential of initiating terrorist acts anywhere in the country. That should send a shudder through your body.
Our president has a problem making a decision, except when it comes to deciding to make a fund raising speech or playing a round of golf or anything that allows him to board his 747 jet.
Being president is a difficult job. As president Truman, commenting on the position, said, “the buck stops here.” But president Obama only wants to pass the buck.
He became president with little experience in either government or the private sector. And it shows. This man can’t handle the job. Loath that I am to making comparisons, however remember Mitt Romney – a man who was educated and made his living in management and decision making. But alas he was rejected by the voters because he was too rich or just didn’t care about people. Any one with
buyers remorse?
Well, it’s time to put our country back on the right road, and we can start with the upcoming elections in November by making sure that at least here in Maryland we can start with getting a new governor by the name of Hogan.

Unfortunately, confronting the Islamic State is like taking a barefoot walk through a Dog Park. You’re bound to step in something you wish you hadn’t.

It has dominated the news for several months. I suggest you watch it. The President has developed a plan in coordination with the DOD and in fact there were two hearings on Capitol Hill today asking for the funding. This plan has been in the news for several weeks now.

Campaigning by selected sound bites à la “we don’t have a strategy yet” is too prevalent these days and reduces an issue to meaninglessness. The multifaceted problem (and is is very multifaceted, if you take the time and energy to really analyze it) that is ISIS/Iraq/Syria/Iran/Yemen…etc today would be facing a president with any other name today, even if his name were Romney.
Most analysts that one reads today can trace this mess directly back to the decisions of Bush and the neocon supporters to invade Iraq.
Pray tell how would Romney’s skills at buying and slicing and dicing companies while making a fortune at it serve him or our country in such a geopolitical arena?

Nope, no buyers remorse whatsoever… and I am an “Unaffiliated” voter… that category of people that Republicans need to woo. Face it: Romney was the last man standing. If the GOP were smarter, they would have nominated Jon Huntsman for President.
If President Obama were to outline a strategy, there’d be a certain faction of people out there complaining he was telegraphing our intentions to the enemy.
This editorial is a perfect example as to why the Republican Party in Maryland is the Washington Generals to the Democrats’ Harlem Globetrotters. I have yet to hear anything from Republicans in Maryland that isn’t a “We’re not O’Malley… we’re not Brown… We’re not Obama” platform. It’s a simplistic, knee-jerk, unsophisticated strategy that for me, as a person capable of critical thinking, is turned off by.
Talk SPECIFICS… talk SOLUTIONS… instead of just thinking you’re going to get votes by talking trash about others. If you want to reduce taxes, what services will be reduced to compensate for it? Be specific. I have yet to hear any of this sort of specifics.

We all need to thank Mr Amdur for his insightful bumper sticker analysis of the issues regarding our confrontation with ISIS. I know it certainly clarified the whys and wherefores, the give and take, and the pros and cons that we all need to take into consideration to understand the intricacies of this problem. But he is living in the past. I guess he didn’t get the memo that right after the mid-term elections, everything going forward has to be Hilary Clinton’s fault, oh…. and Benghazi, of course.

I think it was Nixon who coined the term nuclear sufficiency rather than superiority.
He was a “bad” president. Is there a republican today that understands realities at that level?

Hi, Lets face it President Obama has proven that he is over his head as President of our country on a daily basis. But instead of looking at the past ( Yes I voted for Mr Romney and would again) arguing if Mr Romney would have been a better president/ look to the future. Will Ms Clinton ( just as inept as Obama in my opinion) or Chris Christie or perhaps Romney or several others have the rigtth stuff to be our next leader ? Thats what we should be paying attention to.
