Have you taken the Buy Local Challenge ? “I pledge to eat at least one thing from a local farm every day during Buy Local Week!” (Designated as the last week in July, which this year is July 21-July 29.) How hard can that be, with all the luscious foods available at the farmers’ markets and farm stands; who can resist all those overflowing baskets and bins of cherry tomatoes, heirloom tomatoes, purple peppers, red peppers, green peppers, corn, cucumbers, eggplant, tri-color carrots, squash, melons, peaches, blueberries, plums – hungry yet?
And when you’re filling your basket up with goodies at your local farmers’ market, make a mental note to vote for your favorite, or do it now by clicking here.

i buy local all summer long for as long as the market and the stands are available. great tomatoes, corn, squash, eggplant, salad greens from my favorite guy…..what really bothers me is when i go to acme or fresh n greens, how many people are buying those items at the grocery store when a produce stand is just a few minutes away…….

On that note, Fresh and Greens and Acme should be carrying local produce from Kent and QAC. I would think this would be standard.
