Kent County STEM students traveled to Johns Hopkins University on April 11, 2015 to compete in the Maryland Science Olympiad State competition.The Maryland Science Olympiad is a “hands-on” K-12 science competition that focuses on science, technology, and engineering. The team, composed of 13 7th and 8th graders competed in 23 science related events. These events included building machines that launched ping pong balls and vehicles that had to dodge obstacles to tested subjects like anatomy and meteorology. The team placed in 21 out of the 23 events and came in 2nd place overall in their division! This accomplishment comes on the heals of a second place win at the Regional Maryland Science Olympiad Tournament held at the University of Maryland, College Park on February 21st.
