On Wednesday, July 13 at 6:00 p.m., join researcher and author Carolyn E. Cooper for an introduction to her newly published book, Descendants’ Day. Representing decades of research, Descendants’ Day provides an extensive history of the center of Kent County, including the area known as the Worton Hundred. In addition to genealogies of the people, the book delves into the farms, towns, churches, schools, and parks that filled that part of the county.
A book signing will follow the talk and a limited number of books will be available for purchase. The book can be purchased in advance at the Historical Society of Kent County, Bordley Center or The Bookplate.
About the Author

Holly Geddes says
This book is so impressive. It is about 600 pages of maps, genealogies, farm ownership lists, descriptions of towns & schools and stories about the people who lived in the area (Worton Hundred land grant). Some of the stories are about people who lived through the Revolution and the Civil War. There are personal stories as well. One young man ran away at 15 years old and joined the Patriots fighting for American freedom. Another was shot an his way home at the end of the day.
This reference book is so full of information that the index is 3 columns and over 50 pages long. Since most of the research happened before the internet, this is more than impressive.
