Letter to Editor: Revising Martin Niemöller Warning for 2016

First, the Stormtrumpers came for the Mexicans, and I didn’t speak out

—Because I was not a Mexican

Then they came for the Muslims, but I did not speak out

—Because I was not a Muslim.

Then they came for the women, but I did not speak out

—Because I was not a woman.

Then they came for the disabled, but I did not speak out

—Because I was not disabled.

Then they came for the journalists, but I did not speak out

—Because I was no longer a journalist.

Then they came for the LGBT folks, but I did not speak out

—Because I was not LGB or T.

Then they came for the immigrants , but I did not speak out

—Because I was not an immigrant.

Then they came for the ex-POWs, but I did not speak out

—Because I was not an ex-POW.

Then they came for me

—And there was no one left to speak for me.

    If it happens again it will not be concentration camps but cyber detention where a person’s legal identity will just disappear.
