On Tuesday, May 3, at 7:30 p.m., Grammy-nominated musician Jenny Oaks Baker, famously known as “America’s Violinist,” will perform at Washington College’s Gibson Center for the Arts in a concert called “Movie Magic and More!” Joined by a team of professional musicians, including a chamber orchestra, piano, and guitar, her performance will feature music from her albums, Wish upon a Star and Silver Screen Serenade, along with other fan favorites.
Jenny Oaks Baker began playing the violin when she was four and made her solo orchestral debut at eight. She studied at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia and received her Master of Music from Julliard. Baker has released 12 albums, including the Grammy-nominated Wish Upon A Star: A Tribute to the Music of Walt Disney (Shadow Mountain Records, 2011) and Then Sings My Soul, which held No. 1 for two continuous weeks on the Billboard chart for Top Classical Albums in 2010. Her most recent album, Classic: The Rock Album also topped Billboard charts and received great critical acclaim.
Concert tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for non-WC college Students, seniors over the age of 65, and Washington College faculty and staff.
