RiverArts: March Exhibitions and Call for Artists

February 16, 2015 by RiverArts

Share

Chestertown RiverArts has scheduled two exhibits for March. One is the “Fiber Show and Works on Paper” and the other is “iShow – Digital Art. The shows run from First Friday on March 6 through Saturday, March 28.

For the Fiber Show and Works on Paper, we invite artists in both mediums to think creatively and stretch traditional boundaries.

Watercolor painting as well as origami or altered books. Knitted garments or grass baskets. We haven’t done a fiber/paper show before and think there could be great synergy.

This show, curated by Sue Wright, is open to all artists. Artists may submit up to two pieces but, depending on the number of entries, we may be able to hang only one. For questions and additional information, contact Sue Wright at [email protected]

For the “iShow-Digital Art” RiverArts is reaching out to area artists, and beyond, for submissions to its second annual modern art exhibition. The show is open to works of any genre that incorporate contemporary expression in imaginative ways. This exciting exhibition will showcase area artists working with sound, video, light, animation and digital images. We are also seeking work outside this domain demonstrating innovative techniques that transform traditional mediums in surprising ways that challenge our perceptions. Because of the unusual formats being sought for the show, RiverArts is asking artists to communicate interest early so that requirements for displays can be arranged. Artists, or groups of artists who would like to work together, are asked to submit up to two works for exhibition and sale in the studio gallery.

Contact show curator, Zane Carter, at [email protected] or exhibition chair, William Brockschmidt, at [email protected] to learn more about this exciting exhibition and reserve your space.

The hanging fee for these shows is $10 per piece for members and $20 for non-members. All art work must be for sale. Check in will be Sunday, March 1, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm and Monday, March 2, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at RiverArts, 315 High Street, Suite 106.
