The Board of Trustees at Kent School approved a proposal to expand its current Pre-School program to include two year old children. The program expansion will begin in September at the start of the 2015-2016 school year. The two-year-old program will be housed in its own portion of the current Little School building. While some resources will be shared such as the playground, kitchen and restrooms, the Two-Year-Old program will have its own curriculum and schedule.
To be eligible for this program at Kent School children must be two years of age by September 1, 2015.
During the initial year, enrollment will be capped at six students ensuring a positive student to teacher ratio. Chris Gorycki, Headmaster at Kent School said, “Offering a program for two-year-old children is a natural extension for us. It is clear that more parents in the area are looking for a high quality pre-school setting for the young children. We are fortunate to have ample space and a track record of excellence in pre-school education. This new program will be a welcome addition to the community and to our families who have children in this age range.”
The two-year-old program will follow the same school day schedule as the rest of Kent School. The day begins at 8:20 and concludes at 3:20. Before care (7:30 to 8:20) and after care (3:20 to 5:30) is available as needed. Parents may also choose a three, four or five day schedule for their pre-school child. In addition to offering the two-year-old program, Kent School has reduced its tuition schedule for all Little School students. Tuition is based on the age of the child and the number of days a child attends and is as follows:
3 days 4 days 5 days
2 year old $3,700 $4,300 $5,400
3 year old $4,800 $5,800 $6,800
4 & 5 year old $6,000 $7,400
Kent School will hire a new teacher to lead the two-year-old program and is beginning the search to fill that position immediately.
