A Familiar Theme and Friends Return for Holidays at the Garfield

December 3, 2014 by Garfield Center

ESHC-poster2The Spirit of the Season returns to the Garfield Center for the Arts with our annual “An Eastern Shore Home Companion Holiday Extravaganza: Revisited.”

Showcasing the unique talents of the Garfield Repertory Players and featuring a virtual “who¹s who” of local musicians, the production is sure to entertain and uplift audiences. Incorporating vaudeville skits, musical numbers, slapstick comedy and surprise guests, we celebrate the diverse talent and entertainment that the Garfield Center offers its audiences year round. Writer and producer Bill Arrowood welcomes back celebrated musical director Bill Drazga to lead the many musical performances that are a part of this unique holiday event.

In the grand style of Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol,” this “Scrooged” edition of an Eastern Shore Home Companion finds us eavesdropping on a desperate show producer who has spent his entire budget on an elaborate laser light show in the hopes of drawing a big crowd to his production. The audience follows the life of the New Lyceum Theatre through its evolution to become the Garfield Center for the Arts; a journey filled with song and sentiment of holidays past, present and future, leading our producer to the realization that he has a lot to learn about Christmas and the spirit of the theatre.

As in years past, Arrowood and the Garfield Center have chosen to make this holiday production more than just a great Holiday evening out. A portion of each night¹s proceeds will be donated to local charities including the Samaritan Group Shelter and Rebuilding Together Kent.

The show is sure to be one of the highlights of Downtown Chestertown’s Winterfest Weekend on Friday and Saturday, December 5 & 6 at 7pm and on Sunday, December 7 at 4pm. For ticket information and details, call the box office at 410-810-2060 or visit www.garfieldcenter.org.
