John Englander, one of the nation’s top experts on sea-level rise and its impacts, will speak at Washington College Wednesday, November 12, at 6:00 p.m. in Hynson Lounge. His topic is “Melting Ice, Rising Seas, & Shifting Shores: The New Normal.”
Englander is president of Rising Seas Group, Inc. a consulting firm that educates and consults with coastal corporations, government agencies, and municipalities on what to expect from climate change and how o prepare for it. His 2012 book High Tide on Main Street: Rising Sea Level and the coming Coastal Crisis was released the week before Hurricane Sandy pounded the East Coast. He has been interviewed for major media outlets, including NPR, Fox News, MSNBC, and Al Jazeera America.
Englander’s talk is sponsored by the College’s Center for Environment & Society, Department of Environmental Sciences and Studies, and William James Forum. A book signing and reception will follow.
