Gestational Diabetes Class –Thursdays, June 5,
12, 19 and 26, UM Center for Diabetes & Endocrinology
in UM SMC at Easton. Single-session class addressing
care during pregnancy and what to expect afterward.

Diabetes Self-Management Training/Easton –
Two sessions: Tuesdays, June 3, 10 and 17, 9am-12pm;
and Wednesdays June 4, 11 and 18, 1:30-4:30pm. UM
Center for Diabetes & Endocrinology in UM SMC at
Easton. Medical information and strategies enabling
patients to manage their diabetes for optimal wellness.

Navigating the New Health Insurance Landscape/
Easton and Queenstown – Monday, June 9,
1-4 pm, UM SMC at Easton Emergency Department Lobby
and UM Queen Anne’s Emergency Center Lobby. Hope
Clark, health benefits navigator for Talbot County, and
Regina Carpenter, health benefits assister for Queen Anne’s
County, will be on hand to talk with the public about
Maryland Health Connection enrollment for affordable
health insurance, especially those eligible for Medicaid,
those who have a qualifying life event (such as changing
jobs, marriage and other life changes) that enables them
to make adjustments to their coverage, and those planning
to sign up during the next open enrollment, which begins
November 15, 2014. Free; attendees will be accommodated
on a first-come, first served.

“The Importance of Your Will” – Tuesday, June 10,

Recovery Message Training – Thursday, June 12,
two sessions: 2-4:30pm and 5-7:30pm, UM SMC at
Easton, Health Education Center. This training teaches
participants how to share the story of recovery (from drug
and/or alcohol addiction) to promote advocacy; and share
without violating self-help group traditions; promote
recovery through media and to advance public policy. Free

Big Brother, Big Sister: Sibling Preparation

Center. Open to anyone interested in better lung health.

Film Screening/Chestertown: “The Anonymous
People” – Tuesday, June 17, Emmanuel Episcopal
Church, Chestertown, 6:30pm. This documentary film
highlighting the 23 million Americans in long-term recovery
is a clarion call for a new and enlightened awareness
of the promise of recovery from alcohol and other drug
abuse and addiction, and for a new and better approach to
addressing the suffering caused by addiction. Admission

Safe Sitter Class/Chestertown – Friday, June 20,
9am-4:30pm, UM SMC at Chestertown, Education Center.
Teaches youth ages 11-13 the basics of babysitting,
including basic first aid, CPR , etc. Taught by pediatric
nurses. Cost: $40 (scholarships available).
