RiverArts Hosts “Art’s Alive – Bella Italia!” Saturday, March 22

It’s not too late to buy your tickets to this spectacular fundraiser: Art’s Alive – Bella Italia! This year’s Gala will be held on Saturday, March 22 from 6 until 9 p.m., at the Kent County Community Center in Worton. This year’s event promises to be even bigger and better. Each guest will be greeted with a complimentary Peach Bellini cocktail and attendees will enjoy wonderful Italian food in a beautifully decorated setting. The music will transport you to Tuscan hillsides and the watery pathways of Venice. Wear a costume evocative of anything Italian, from Mona Lisa to Sophia Loren, and add to the festive atmosphere. (Costumes are encouraged but are, by no means, required.)

John Swain photoIn addition to food, music, and beauty, Bella Italia will feature an Arts and Adventures Silent Auction from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. followed by a live auction to win five special items. These include a stay in a two-bedroom, two bath apartment near Milan and a
cruise for four with John Swain on the E. E. Moore, his hand-built 36’ wooden schooner. Another very special offer will be two full season passes for the National Music Festival coming to Chestertown in June.

The silent auction includes such varied items as sushi-making classes, a pizza party at an open air pizza oven, a catamaran cocktail cruise, lots of fine art, photographs and pottery, a Thai dinner for six, and much more. You’ll even have a chance to bid on several of the colorful hanging banners that dressed up Downtown Chestertown last year.

Additional highlights of the evening include “Surprise Pacchettos.” These delightfully packaged presents can be purchased for $20 and you’re guaranteed a surprise gift or gift certificate worth between $25-$50. There will also be a full cash bar.

“Art’s Alive” is sponsored in part by The Peoples Bank and the many community-minded merchants and individuals who have donated auction items. Tickets are $60.00 each. Proceeds go to support RiverArt’s expanding reach into the community. New initiatives include KidSPOT, our special place where children are invited to explore their creativity in free Saturday programs, lectures for everyone, artists and non-artists alike, gallery shows and events done in collaboration with other local organizations, and varied classes and workshops for a whole spectrum of artists.

RiverArts is a registered 501c3 nonprofit organization. It houses a vibrant community arts center that offers dynamic, unique, and constantly evolving programs designed to help make Chestertown the premier arts destination on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Purchase your Gala tickets at the RiverArts Gallery, Suite 106, 315 High Street, Chestertown; by phone at 410-778-6300; online at www.chestertownriverarts.org, or from anyone on the board of directors.
