Kent County family practice physician, Wayne D. Benjamin, M.D, has been elected Chief of Staff for University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Chestertown. Affiliated with the hospital since his arrival in Chestertown in 1974, Dr. Benjamin previously served as the hospital’s Chief of Staff in 1979 and 1995. For nine years beginning in 1993, he was a member of the hospital’s Board of Directors, and has also served UM Shore Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at Chestertown as a board member (1981-90).
Dr. Benjamin’s medical career also has included 25 years as company physician for Dixon Valve and Coupling Company and a 10-year affiliation (1988-1998) with Delmarva Health Plan, including four years as Regional Medical Director. He also has served as Volunteer Clinical Instructor in Family Practice for the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
