Ben Loller of Chestertown heard about a child who donated to an animal shelter, which gave him an idea to turn his 8th birthday into a fundraising event for the Kent County Humane Society.
Ben asked all his friends to bring something he could give to the Kent County Humane Society instead of a gift to him.
We asked him if he was really sure he wanted to do this and he was. Ben had made his New Year resolution to help animals and thought this was a great start!
Ben’s friends came over to celebrate and everyone brought a wonderful donation for the Humane Society. Ben raised close to 200lbs of food in addition to bleach and some cat toys. Some friends also gave Ben some cash and told him he could choose to keep it or donate it, and Ben gave $45 too!
In the end, Ben told us that his friends loved the idea and now they want to do something like this too! We told him he planted a wonderful seed and now hopefully he can watch it grow!!!
