Employees of Dominos Pizza here in Chestertown are volunteering on Thanksgiving to provide a free lunch from 1-4pm on Thanksgiving Day.
The Staff is preparing turkeys and all the other trimmings that come with the Thanksgiving celebration.
“So for anyone, who for any reason, won’t be celebrating or making a meal for just one can stop by the store between those times and grab a to-go-box,” said Amy Calabrese, an employee of Domino’s who has volunteered her time. “It’s our ‘thank you’ to the community.”
Domino’s Pizza is located at 518 Washington Avenue, next to the People’s Bank.

Editor,
That’s remarkable behavior for a store that was robbed at gun point recently. Hopefully it will set a precedent for other businesses in the area to follow and set a benchmark for business/community relations. The “Angels of our better nature” have won again. Congratulations to all the Domino’s employees that contribute to this effort.

What a great idea! With a family member in the hospital for a week+, the other two of us figured TG this year might have to be celebrated (during a midday dash home for awhile) with just canned soup from the cupboard stash, plus anything else that might be on hand there.

Editor,
Follow-up: The food was delicious, abundant, and well-prepared—not at all like restaurant/institutional food but like home-cooked TG favorites. We three (including another son arriving later in the day by plane) enjoyed our meal and certainly appreciated it.

That’s a wonderful gesture! I have no doubt the people who are able and need to accept that offer will be grateful.

Editor,
I understand this was a great success. Multiple employees ( and their friends and children ) helped out and all the food prepared was consumed. One story I heard was that a homeless man, who thought his Thanksgiving meal was going to be some nuts and a pear he found wrapped in some newspaper, was given 2 meals, one for “now”, and one for later. A group of on-duty EMT’s arrived after all the food was gone but were given a pizza for free. This is what Thanksgiving is all about!

Editor,
Kudos ~ this is exactly what Thanksgiving should be about.

Kudos Dominos, in todays world of greed like what was done to the Pizza hut manager in Indiana. Being fired for refusing to let greed come in between families. How low is that? Especially after 10 years of service? Are Pizza hut employees slaves? I think not!!! It seems to me that people need to take notice and boycott Pizza hut, and maybe all Yum brands including Taco Bell and KFC. Thanksgiving is for family and friends.
