The October 4th First Friday Gallery walk will feature an open house for one of Chestertown’s newest galleries, from 5-8 pm in Chesapeake Gallery at 357 High St. in downtown Chestertown, MD.
Chesapeake Gallery will feature the works of veteran photojournalist and art photographer Curt Nelson.
Nelson studied photography at the University of New Mexico. Since the 1960s, he has worked in photography; as a free-lance and professional photographer, an exhibitor, and a photo lab technician/supervisor. For 24 years, he worked in lab photography at Baker Engineers, until his retirement in 2012. His passion for photography, however, knows no retirement, and he continues to share his images via exhibits.
Between 2002 and 2013, Nelson was represented by Parish Gallery of Georgetown, DC, where the late Norm Parish exhibited his work. He also exhibited at various other locations and photographed numerous events, in locales ranging from Maryland to Wales to Japan. Recently, he returned to Vietnam, where during the war years I served as a U.S. Army Photographer while editing Kysu magazine. Many of his international photos will be on exhibit.
“Since my father gave me a Minolta Rangefinder in 1960, I have enjoyed photography for the sake of producing pleasant or striking images, as an art form, and for recording events I have witnessed or in which I’ve participated.” said Curt.
Light appetizers and beverages will be served.
