Luisa’s is moving to the former Village Bakery & Café building at 849 Washington Avenue.
Luisa’s Owners Vincenzo “Vinnie” Assante and Domenico “Mimmo” Fevola say they hope to open around late spring when Washington College holds graduation for the class of 2014.
The two became the owners of the building last Tuesday.
The two said there was no need to worry that the Luisa’s Chestertown has come to know will change much. “But there will be some added twists that remain a surprise,” Mimmo said.
The building will undergo some remodeling over the next nine months, meanwhile, Mimmo and Vinnie say that they will continue to “make Luisa’s the place where Chestertown goes for Italian food.”
Vinnie and Mimmo opened Luisa’s in 2000 and employ close to 25 people from the local community who have longevity there.
“There are our family,” Mimmo said.

I’ve always felt like Luisa’s was one of the hidden gems of Chestertown. Maybe not so “hidden”, as they always have a decent crowd, but if you’re new to town you may not find them tucked away in the corner of a strip mall. Hopefully the new location with improved curb appeal will help them to continue to thrive for years to come.
Also, for those who didn’t know, they will prepare any pasta dish with gluten-free pasta upon request.
