Kent County Public Library is pleased to announce a First Friday art reception in celebration of the photography and paintings of Carole Lupis.
In addition to creating art in multiple media, Ms. Lupis has extensive experience working with talented students in many public school art programs, including Kent County Public Schools where she has had the opportunity to incorporate arts education into cross-curricular experiences for students in 5th-8th grades. Writing about her experiences as an artist, Ms. Lupis notes, “A search for beauty in many places and subjects has been a life time journey.”
The public is invited to visit KCPL’s Chestertown branch between 5 pm and 8 pm on Friday, July 5, 2013 to meet the artist, appreciate the beauty she has captured in her photography, and engage with others who support and celebrate the arts in Kent County. Convenient parking is available, family-friendly refreshments will be served, and all are welcome to attend this free community event.
The artwork showcased at the First Friday reception will remain on display at KCPL’s Chestertown branch during the month of July.
This month, in addition to the art reception, KCPL is marking First Friday with a visit from an AmeriCorps Ambassador. Members of the Mid-Atlantic National Civilian Community Corps are spending a few weeks of their summer working on a variety of projects with the Sassafras Environmental Education Center in Kennedyville. Teenagers, young adults, and anyone who’s interested in hearing enthusiastic young people share their stories is invited to stop by Friday, July 5th at 6 pm for a brief presentation and the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about AmeriCorps opportunities.
For more information about these events or to learn how to apply to be a featured First Friday artist at KCPL, please call 410.778.3636 or visit the Chestertown Branch at 408 High Street, Chestertown.
