The Rose O’Neill Literary House Summer Poetry Salon Series will continue Tuesday, June 25, at 4:30 p.m. when poets Yona Harvey and Steven Kistulentz share the stage with the band Sleeper Cell.
Sleeper Cell, led by Dutch Williams and Brian Campbell, will open the show with a 20-minute set. Afterward, poets Harvey and Kistulentz will each read from their work for 20 minutes.
The free event ends with a book sale and signing, along with complimentary food and drink.
Yona Harvey is the author of the poetry collection Hemming the Water (Four Way Books: New York, 2013) and the recipient of an Individual Artist Grant from The Pittsburgh Foundation. Her poems can be found in jubilat, Gulf Coast, Callaloo, West Branch and various journals and anthologies, including A Poet’s Craft: A Comprehensive Guide to Making and Sharing Your Poetry (Ed. Annie Finch).Steve Kistulentz has published two collections of poetry, Little Black Daydream (2012) and The Luckless Age (2010). His narrative nonfiction, mostly on the subject of popular culture, has appeared widely in journals. His honors include the Benjamin Saltman Award, fellowship support from Writers at Work and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and an individual award from the Mississippi Arts Commission.
The acoustic rhythm and poetry band Sleeper Cell is led by Kent County natives Dutch Williams and Brian Campbell. Influenced by hip hop, jazz, and everything in between, Sleeper Cell provides a one-of-a-kind performance.
