Kate Bursick, recently hired Managing Director of the Garfield Center for the Arts, shares a clear passion for keeping alive the enjoyment of the nearly ninety-year-old theater. She reflects on some of the significant changes that the theater has undergone during the first seven months of her time there, and she gives a nod to the future as well.
The first video (~4:00) covers Bursick’s personal introduction, her time working at the Rose O’Neill Literary House at Washington College, and the similarities between the two institutions.
The second video (~4:00) covers the effects of the economic downturn on the theater, its fundraising efforts, some surprises in the first year at the GCA, and some plans for the future.
The third video (~6:00) covers the role of a local community theater in the world of the internet, the community events, such as the Open Mic Night, hosted by the GCA, the recent improvements to the theater’s lobby, and Bursick’s closing remarks.
Enjoy getting to know this energetic supporter of the local arts scene.
