Washington College President Mitchell Reiss has announced that Meredith Davies Hadaway will be stepping down as vice president for college relations at the end of the current academic year. She has worked at Washington College since 1982.
“Meredith Davies Hadaway has informed me that after nearly 30 years of service to the College, she will step down as Vice President of College Relations and Marketing effective June 30 to devote more time to her poetry, music and other creative projects. I am pleased to report that she will continue to be part of the campus community. An award-winning writer, she has agreed to stay on next year as the Rose O’Neill Writer-in-Residence at Washington College beginning July 1, 2013.” said Reiss.
Hadaway is the author of two collections inspired by the Chester River: Fishing Secrets of the Dead (2005) and The River is a Reason (2011), both issued by Word Press in Cincinnati, Ohio. She has four Pushcart nominations to her credit, has received two fellowships to the Virginia Center for Creative Arts, and won a Maryland State Arts Council Individual Artist Award. She holds an MFA in Poetry from the Vermont College of Fine Arts.
