The Maryland Federation of Business and Professional Women will hold its annual conference May 18-20 at the Rockville Hilton Garden Inn, 14975 Shady Grove Road. The conference theme is “The Power of YOU – Discover, Focus, Commit!”
The conference kicks off with motivational luncheon speaker Ginny Robertson, entrepreneur and founder of On Purpose Networking for Women.
Attendees can participate in two of four workshops. Debbie DeChambeau, founder of Select Business Team and Select Business Marketing, will conduct two sessions on social media tools, one for beginners and the other for advanced users. The ToolBox TomGirl, Jo Ellen Soesbee, will present hands-on workshops on two common, basic home repairs: “Fixing the Frustrating Faucet” and “Reading Room Repairs.”
An “Equality Rally” will be held to bring increased attention to pay equity, equal rights and affordable healthcare for women. Leaders from BPW, the National Organization for Women, American Association of University Women and United 4 Equality, as well as local and state officials will join together to celebrate victories and to partner for women’s equality.
Siobhan “Sam” Bennett, former congressional candidate, businesswoman, community leader and president/CEO of the Women’s Campaign Fund, will be Saturday’s keynote luncheon speaker. At Sunday’s breakfast, BPW/MD will honor women in the military. Members of a special panel will share their concerns and fears as wives and mothers during their deployment, while fulfilling their duties stateside or when trying to re-enter the civilian job market.
