Rookie Police Officer Albert Piasecki, 25, has been with the Chestertown Police Department since January of this year. Piasecki received his training from Eastern Shore Criminal Justice Academy at Wor-Wic Community College in Salisbury, and he is currently finishing up his 300 hours of supervised patrol with veteran Sergeant John Dolgos. All new recruits must complete the supervised patrols before going it alone.
But Piasecki is not new to the criminal justice system. He worked for five years as a correctional officer at the Kent County Detention Center, and for 18 months as an emergency dispatcher. Piasecki also serves as a volunteer EMT.
At a young age, Piasecki exudes the kind of maturity and confidence associated with veteran officers. He commands respect on the first impression, but he is not cocky. He is outgoing, easy to talk with, and has a sense of humor, which goes a long way in building trust in the community. It is also apparent that fellow officers have taken an immediate liking to Piasecki.
A 2004 graduate of Kent County High School, Piasecki says he has thought of nothing else for a career since he was young boy in Kent County.
“This is something I’ve always wanted to do — since I was a little kid, ”Piasecki said.
Dolgos said Piasecki has demonstrated top professionalism in his duties as a CPD officer.
