The rapper, crunkstar, and music producer Lil Jon, will head the bill at Washington College’s “War on the Shore” after-party, 8pm, Saturday, May 7, at the college’s Lifetime Fitness Center. Opening for Lil Jon, (aka Jonathan Mortimer Smith), is the Academy award winning band, Three 6 Mafia.
Crunk, or what Alex Henderson, of allmusic, describes as “rowdy, in-your-face, profanity-filled party music,” is a rap style attributed to the new generation of Dirty South rappers, especially Lil Jon. He’s been known to dabble in rock as well, having worked with well-known producer Rick Rubin, and released his latest album, “Crunk Rock,” in 2010. He also has an impressive list of filmography, including a recent appearance on NBC’s, “The Celebrity Apprentice.”
Tickets to the performance are $15 for those with a Washington College ID, $25 for guests.
They can be purchased at Washington College’s Office of Student Activities or the Washington College Bookstore. For more information, or to purchase tickets over the phone call 410-778-7749
“War on the Shore,” the longstanding rivalry between lacrosse division III teams Washington College and Salisbury State University, will be broadcast live on television as well as webcast by ESPN. This years Birthday Ball sent at least 7 underage students to the hospital with alcohol issues. Will Lil Jon and the Three 6 Mafia be able to top that?
