A varied group of top regional artists will present their work at the Chestertown Arts League’s 63rd Annual Open Juried Art Show, scheduled for April 10-May 1 to be held at the Galleries of Heron Point, 501 East Campus Avenue, Chestertown.
Seven categories of fine arts will be showcased: graphics, paintings on paper under glass, paintings on canvas or board, pastels, mixed media, photography and sculpture. For artists it is an honor to be chosen for this exhibit. For viewers, it is a pleasure not to be missed.
The judge for this year’s show is Donald A. McColl, Founding Director of the Kohl Gallery of Washington College, Chair of the Washington College Department of Art and Art History from2008-2010, and currently the Nancy L. Underwood Associate Professor of Art History. As well as seeing the gallery through its recent transformation, he is an outstanding
teacher and art historian who has organized and served as curator for many shows at the Kohl Gallery. He also lectures widely and has served as judge for various other juried exhibits, such as the 2009 Adkins Arboretum Art Competition.
The opening reception will be held Sunday, April 10, 2011, 2-4 p.m., with prizes to be announced at 3 p.m. Come join us for this festive occasion, which will include the presentation of fifteen awards: Best of Show, Juror’s Choice, Best Representation of the Eastern Shore, Best Abstract, Most Traditional Watercolor, Best Watercolor, six Awards of Excellence and three Honorable Mentions.
