The Chester River Chorale will present two performances of Welcome Spring! on the weekend of the spring equinox. The 70-voice Chorale will appear at the Kent County High School in Worton on Friday, March 18 at 8pm. A second performance will be held at 3pm on Sunday, March 20 at the historic St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Centreville. On this weekend marking the spring equinox, the CRC will celebrate the reawakening of spring-and, of course, the season of love. The CRC will be joined by several guest artists in performing “The Spring,” the first movement of Joseph Haydn’s oratorio The Seasons. The subject of courtly love will add some heat to the concert with the music of Richard Rogers, Leonard Bernstein, and others.
Now in it’s 12th year, the Chestertown-based CRC is directed by Douglas D. Cox, former Assistant Director of the Soldiers’ Chorus of the United States Army Field Band. Also hailing from the Field Band is CRC Accompanist Sammy Marshall.
Admission is $15 for adults, $7 for students, and free for children under 12 with ticket. Tickets are available at Scotties, Compleat Bookseller, and Towne Stationers in Chestertown; Galena Pharmacy in Galena; and Java Rock in Rock Hall.
