“The Artist’s Touch” is opening at RiverArts Gallery on First Friday June 5 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm and running until June 28. All are welcome. The show is a representation of artists’ best works from the last two years, and inclues a wide variety of themes. The show features original sculpture and works in oil, acrylic, pastel, watercolor, and egg tempera. First, second, and third place prizes will be awarded in both painting and sculpture. Presentation of awards will be at 6:00 pm during the opening reception on June 5th. A free raffle will be held for all visitors and will be awarded in person at 7:00 p.m.
RiverArts is pleased to announce that “The Artist’s Touch” will be judged by Barbara Nuss. Barbara is a well-known artist, writer, and educator. She has exhibited throughout the US and in Europe, including solo exhibitions in Washington, D.C. and New York. Recently two of her paintings exhibited at Arti e Amicitiae in Amsterdam, Holland. Barbara has written for North Light books and for The Artist Magazine; see her latest article in the Jan/ Feb issue. Floral artists participating in “Art In Bloom,” will be selecting their inspiration works at First Friday as well. Artists will choose a wall at random on which to base a floral arrangement that will be revealed on Sunday, June 14, at 4:00 p.m. during a reception at RiverArts gallery. “Art in Bloom” also features a fashion show that will take place on Monday, June 15, from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. Mimi’s Closet, Dockside Emporium, and Houck’s Menswear are contributing fashions to be on display during the show. Champagne will be served. Proceeds benefit RiverArts and Community Mediation Upper Shore.
