Have you already discovered—or been a longtime fan of—TED talks? Since 1984, the non-profit has brought together the world’s thinkers and do-ers at annual conferences to share their “ideas worth spreading.” The presenters, who have ranged from T. Boone Pickens to U.S. Poet Laureate Billy Colllins, Jane Goodall to Al Gore, each have had 18 minutes to present the talk of their lives.
Now, the conversation is coming to the Eastern Shore, with TEDxChesterRiver, Saturday, June 30 at Washington College. An independently organized event, TEDxChesterRiver brings our community together for a fascinating afternoon following in the TED tradition of “riveting talks by remarkable people.”
The afternoon event will be a combination of live presenters, performances and recorded TED talks on a wide range of subjects — all fostering learning, inspiration, and provoking conversations that matter.
The theme for the inaugural TEDxChesterRiver is “where we belong.” Just of few of the speakers currently scheduled include the Hon. Wayne Gilchrest; Paul Reed Smith of PRS guitars; and Chesapeake Bay chef and author John Shields.
