Just announced – Fat Cat Hackett will perform a free show featuring his signature mix of soul, rock and R&B this Friday, July 29, 8pm, at the Garfield Center for the Arts.
A native of Chestertown, Maryland, Hackett was a music lover at an early age, doing talent shows with his sisters and brother and friends as well as singing in church and school choir. From his teenage years, he was musically influenced by Otis Redding, James Brown, Isley Brothers, The Temptations, Sam Cooke, Four Tops , Maze, Luther Vandross, and a variety of Horn Bands.
He started playing drums in 1974 in Karlshrue, Germany with his first band : Soul Fire.and has been playing a variety of R’n’B with a mixture of Rock and Soul ever since.
