Hot weather calls for hot music and D’Vibe and Conga will heat up the stage at Millstream Park in Centreville, Maryland on August 4 from 7 to 9 p.m. As part of the free summer concert series, Thursdays in the Park, this popular area band brings island sounds, rock classics,reggae, and even Irish music. Founding member Herbie Wheatley plays vocals, flute, sax, clarinet, and percussion for the band who started up in 1991. Wheatley is joined by Mac Daddy on bass, Dr. X-Ray on guitar and vocals and Jess McQuay on drums and vocals. They perform throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, frequently in Annapolis and Baltimore as well as private parties and weddings.
The Thursdays in the Park concert series is presented by the Queen Anne’s County Arts Council and sponsored by the Maryland State Arts Council, the United Way of Queen Anne’s County, Petra Quinn for Exit Gold Realty, and Dr. James Lucas.
A raffle will be held throughout the concert season offering two tickets to a performance by the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, and media sponsorship has been provided by Tidewater Trader and radio station WCTR 1530. Bring blankets or chairs; picnicking is encouraged.
