On Thursday, June 16, at 7:30 PM area residents are invited to gather at Wilmer Park near the Chester River in Chestertown. for a vigil to honor the victims of the Orlando tragedy. This event is sponsored by the local Kent County PFLAG chapter. In case of the predicted rain, it will move into the Lelia Hynson Pavilion, adjacent to Wilmer Park.
Our hour will begin with brief remarks followed by a reading of the names of lives lost in Orlando. PFLAG wishes to thank the volunteers from several partner organizations who are assisting to create this vigil.

Can we have this tribute on a day that does not. Conflict with the major NMF performance? Both are so important to lives of young and old alike.

Letter of Gratitude for Vigil Participation from PFLAG Chestertown Chapter
In Chestertown and Easton, MD our heartfelt sorrows were shared through vigils held in both locations last week to honor those lost and affected by the massacre of our LGBTQ community members in Orlando, FL. We felt our own community of loving citizens and community partners pull together to create an umbrella of caring and a beginning of more serious conversations. Thanks to our local law enforcement officers, town officials, local press and nearly 100 individuals who stood proud in support of the victims, their families and first responders as well as our chapter’s support work. Uniting people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) with families, friends, and allies, PFLAG is committed to advancing equality through its mission of support, education, and advocacy. We also appreciate our local organizational partners: Chester Valley Ministerial Association (CVMA), Unitarian Universalists of the Chester River (UUCR), Mid Shore Veterans Network, and the Diversity Dialog Group (DDG) to name a few.
