Kent County to hold ‘Emerging Infectious Disease Drill’ on June 9th

June 7, 2016 by Spy Desk

Share

On Thursday, June 9th, agencies across Kent County will be participating in a drill to help train major stakeholders in the event of an infectious disease outbreak. This simulation will help strengthen emergency response protocols for all of the organizations involved in the drill while providing practical experience for the personnel taking part.

Exercises will be held on Washington College’s campus and in the Shore Regional Health Hospital of Chestertown throughout the day on June 9th. All of the agencies involved would like to ensure that no local residents are surprised by the proceedings, which may involve enactors using medical equipment or moving “patients” to and from exercise locations.

Agencies involved are Office of Emergency Services, Washington College, UM Shore Medical Center at Chestertown, Kent County Health Department, Kent County EMS, and Kent & Queen Anne’s Rescue Squad.
