With sold out performances at the Avalon and the Mainstay last year, coupled with his membership with regional bands like the Pam Ortiz Band, Harp & Soul, and Ricky Walls and the North County Pickers, Nevin Dawson is not only making a name for himself as one of the Eastern Shore’s most talented performers, but also one of the most versatile.
From traditional classical, which he first learned to play on the viola growing up, to jazz, Celtic, and other forms of improvisation, Nevin has taken his passion for music to an entirely new level of diversity on the Mid-Shore while still keeping his day job as the Sustainable Agriculture Coordinator for the State of Maryland.
In his Spy interview, Dawson talks about the pleasure he receives in performing a diverse portfolio of music as well as the unique range of opportunities that come his way in the small but remarkably robust world of Eastern Shore music and his special relationship with its gifted musicians.
Nevin will next be performing in Betterton this Sunday, March 20, at 2 pm. Tickets are free but limited for “The Mainstay Comes to Betterton: Nevin Dawson and the Versatile Viola.” Call the Mainstay for reservations (410-639-9133)
