Getting an event onto local calendars just got easier. Through close collaboration of the County’s Information Technology department and the Town of Chestertown ’s web administrator, one form will now post to the event calendars on both Websites (kentcounty.com and TownofChestertown.com). The form can be found on the calendar of events page of either site.
The data sharing will go into effect Wednesday, March 9, at midnight, and the two calendars will be synced at least once a week. “This collaboration streamlines the process, making it more convenient for organizers to list their events,” says Bernadette Bowman, Director of Kent County Tourism Development.
“We hope this added convenience encourages more groups and individuals to submit events,” adds Kay MacIntosh, who as Economic Development and Marketing Coordinator for Chestertown oversees its Arts & Entertainment District and Maryland Main Street Program.
Both Bowman and MacIntosh expressed thanks and appreciation to the partnership of Jason Depp, the Systems Administrator for the County, and Francoise Sullivan, who administers the Town’s website through her company Moo Productions. The two worked closely for more than two months on the technical challenges of the project and will continue to tweak it in the coming weeks. Sullivan stressed that those who have subscribed to Chestertown’s weekly events emails will continue to receive them as before. (To subscribe, click here or go to https://townofchestertown.com and scroll to the bottom left of the page, beneath the calendar.)
Bowman says the county will be reaching out to the towns of Rock Hall, Millington, Betterton and Galena to see if they are interested in exploring options for connecting their calendars to the county database, as well. The use of different operating systems for each Website means there is no one solution that creates synchronicity.

It would be helpful to include events at the Church Hill theatre.
