On Saturday, January 9, libraries across the state will host trained experts who can help you sign up for a health insurance plan through Maryland’s health insurance marketplace, Maryland Health Connection.
A free enrollment event will be held on Saturday, January 9 from 10am-1pm at Kent County Public Library’s Chestertown Branch. This event is sponsored by Maryland Health Connection and the Maryland Association of Public Library Administrators.
Participants will receive free in-person assistance assessing health insurance options and completing the application process. Many Marylanders qualify for financial help to lower the cost of health insurance, or may qualify for free or low-cost coverage through Medicaid or the Maryland Children’s Health Program. People who have looked in the past are encouraged to look again, since changes in health insurance plans and costs may result in new options being available this year.
To complete the application process, you will need to provide the following information for yourself and your family members:
- social security numbers
- birthdates
- employer and income information
- policy numbers for any current health insurance
- information about any job-related health insurance available to your family
Maryland Health Connection’s open enrollment period for 2016 plans ends January 31. Sign up by January 15 for health coverage that starts February 1.
