Ward 4 Candidates Stetson and Atkinson Hold Open Forum

October 26, 2015 by James Dissette

Share

Last Thursday night the Kent County League of Women Voters sponsored a public forum at Town Hall for the two candidates vying for Ward 4 council positions: incumbent Marty Stetson, and Chestertown resident Steve Atkinson.

The candidates were given an opportunity for opening and closing statements, questions from the LOWV and questions from the public.

Stetson has held the position of Ward 4 councilman for two council terms. Atkinson ran against him two elections ago, and again would like the opportunity to serve the town of Chestertown.

Opening statements:

Question 1: The Chester River Bridge closure for repairs.

Question 2: Future use of Margo Bailey Park

Question from the floor: Quaker Neck Sanitary District Issue with the County; closing statements.

Letters to Editor

  1. Marty Stetson says

    October 26, 2015 at 4:19 PM

For those of you watching this and wondering why I look down and kind of smiled on a couple occasions is because I was getting a sign on a card indicating I was running out of time on that question or statement. The forum was an hour and a half long and what you see is part of what was said. I did make note that Mr. Atkinson did not seem to ever get a sign that he was running out of time as his answers and statement were rather short, much of what he had to say he spent saying he agreed with me. It was a good forum, the question were well stated and carried concerns of those asking the questions. I really wish more people could have attended and they would have gotten a better idea of the concerns of those in attendance and how each of us would address them.

My sincere thanks to the League of Women Voters for doing such good job of putting tother the forum
