Chris Cerino’s second year as mayor of Chestertown has brought with it triumphs and challenges as he has helped steer the town council through a host of high-stakes issues including the ongoing oil remediation project at the hospital and an ongoing effort to bring the marina projects online.
Always nimble in his approach to handling problems as they come along, he’s also been instrumental in many of the accomplishments we all now enjoy—from supporting economic development initiatives like the new A and E District designation, adding a full-time marketing and promotional person to the solar array improvements at Fountain Park, and the partnership with Kent County Board of Education and Kent County Commissioners that gleaned a $250,000 grant to help the middle school renovate recreational amenities.
Here, Mayor Cerino talks about some of these issues and lends his perspective on the current state and future of Chestertown.

Setting with him as a member of the Council I see first hand the time and effort that he puts into doing the job as Mayor and I applaud that effort. His leadership has helped us move through some really tough issues in away that ” gets the job done “. Government moves slow but under his leadership we have speed up that process, could we do better, maybe but we are working on doing just that. While we don’t always agree on all issues we do work with the thought of making Chstertown better for all of its citizens.
