The Garfield Center for the Arts in Chestertown and director Christine Armand have set the audition dates for Stretchmarks, a heartfelt, hilarious theatrical experience about the joys and woes of New Motherhood. The dates are Tuesday, July 28 and Thursday, July 30 at 6 pm, and Saturday, August 1 at 11 am. The actual performance will be one night only, Saturday, August 22.
There are four characters in the play. Three of these characters are mothers, ranging in age from 25-45.
Annie is a hippie, crunchy mom, who can’t wait to be a mother.
Saundra is a “type A” business woman who thinks parenting will be just like handling her work team. She schedules a child into her life and thinks motherhood will be a breeze.
Leda is an artsy, quirky, funny party girl who thinks she’s so deep. She’s a writer-slash-photographer-slash-painter-slash-performance artist who doesn’t want children because she feels they will take away her freedom and cramp her bohemian style.
The fourth character, Mother Nature (age range 45-100), has a goddess-like wisdom and appears on stage in many facets to advise the women.
