Gabriel Voshell’s Millington Elementary fourth grade class has been working hard to improve their writing all year long.
In preparation for the Maryland Municipal League’s “If I Were Mayor…” essay contest, the class had a visit from C.J. Morales, Mayor of Millington in November, 2014 to help the students with their essays. Mr. Morales talked with the students about the job of mayor and some of the town projects, including ideas for the new park.
Gabriel, assisted by that discussion, became District 2’s winner of the essay contest. The Maryland Municipal League received nearly 2,000 entries this year and 77 from upper shore area schools. Gabriel should be very proud of his accomplishment.
Gabriel and his family were recognized at an Awards Ceremony at the Maryland State House on Thursday, May 14, 2015.
Millington Elementary student Joshua Suwala was named a semi-finalist as well.
