Candidates for mayor and two town council seats held a forum on Sunday at the firehouse in Rock Hall. The event was sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Kent County and the Greater Rock Hall Business Association. LWVKC President Sandra Bjork introduced the panel and Lt. Gen. Stephen B. Croker explained the rules and moderated.
Elections will be held Saturday, May 2, 10 am-8 pm at the Rock Hall Municipal Building
Candidates Robert E. Willis (incumbent) and councilman Brian Jones gave opening statements, then responded to prepared questions.
Opening statements:
Question 1: “How can Rock Hall retain its small town and waterman’s village heritage while still encouraging tourism which is important to the town financially?”
Question 2: “What do you view as the most important task for the Mayor of Rock Hall?”
Question 3: What is the ideal relationship between the mayor and town management?
Question 4: There is a dynamic tension between new businesses you would you like to attract and those that are established. What kind of businesses would you like to attract to Rock Hall and how might you ensure the success of established businesses.
Question 5: What do you think are the essential ingredients, given your background, for maintaining a positive and cordial relationship between the mayor and town government, and do you think it’s important?
