More than 180 United Way supporters attended the Second Annual Guest Chef Dinner hosted by J. R. Alfree of Lemon Leaf/J.R.s Past Time Pub and sponsored by The Peoples Bank. This year the centerpiece of a buffet prepared by Lemon Leaf’s Chef Michael Burke again was Ralph Dowling, the President and CEO of The Peoples Bank’s paella. Both K – B Market and Kitchen School and the Chester River Wine & Gourmet Shop provided some of the ingredients for the meal.
Attendees came from as far as St. Michaels this year. We saw many of the same faces as last year and a lot of new ones.
The Board of the United Way of Kent County and Beth Everett, Executive Director, were on hand to greet and seat diners as they arrived. They also kept the crowd engaged throughout the evening.
The United Way of Kent County was the ideal recipient for the proceeds from this event as they support 25 of the areas agencies which assist residents with issues ranging from always use donations, the member agencies are always looking for volunteers.
United Way of Kent County is headquartered at 819 High Street. For more information call 410-778- 3195 and visit unitedwaykentcounty.org.
