Join ACME as they celebrate the grand reopening of the Chestertown, MD, store at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, March 13, 2015 during an official ribbon cutting ceremony. Expanded varieties of the freshest product, top-quality meats and seafood, a new service deli and an expanded frozen food section await customers along with a new feel to their shopping experience.
The store, located at 711 Washington Ave, Chestertown, MD, will provide customers with a warm, inviting atmosphere that highlights fresh departments and enhanced specialty shops. The Chestertown store features a premium service deli with more fresh cut meat and cheese selections than ever, an enlarged produce department, a full-service butcher block and seafood department, and more.
“Over sixty-nine years in Chestertown alone is something to celebrate but this expanded and remodeled store celebrates our customers and we are thrilled to offer them such a fantastic shopping experience.” said Dan Croce, president of ACME. “From the product selection to the new design and layout, our goal was to tailor this store for our neighbors in Chestertown. We’ve created a fresh, new feel to the shopping experience with greater selections, convenience, and variety. We look forward to continuing to bring the best of Acme to the residents of Chestertown and the surrounding area for many years to come.”
Acme leadership and local officials will join Store Director Craig Huska at the ceremony where they will be donating over $3,500 to local community organizations. In addition, ACME will donate a park bench made from recycled plastic bags to Worton Park.
The remodel in Chestertown includes the following features:
- Enlarged Produce department including an expanded selection of organic produce
- A full-service Butcher Block featuring Lancaster Brand U.S.D.A. Choice beef and a full-service seafood department
- A new Service Deli offering a larger variety of prepared foods and quick meal ideas

Well it certainly is a relief to have the construction over! And I am glad to see that Acme is giving to the community in honor of the event.
What I’d really like to see is some genuine appreciation towards their employees who have been shivering through the winter and working in somewhat hazardous and haphazard conditions.
Nothing makes a business sparkle as much as happy Associates. And no, I don’t work there:)

Frankly, I believe Acme wasn’t thinking when they expanded like they have. Regardless of them purchasing more electric carts which I have no desire to use, folks like myself can’t walk from one end of the store to the other in one trip. I am unable to walk that distance due to health reasons and I’m certainly I’m not the only one with the problem. I can’t wait for the other store to open which I hope is soon. I suspect when they have their grand opening it will be GRAND just by customers like myself being some of the first to check it out. For now I’ll be going to Food Lion in Millington when I need to do my major shopping trip. I sure miss Roses too so will be glad when it gets reopened with whatever the store is that’s going there.

To be successful this store must put more emphasis on customer service and cleanliness (especially re its meat and seafood cases, whose foul odors sometimes in the past have wafted up to the store entrance area and caused me to turn right around and leave).
