Compass Regional Hospice chose Jack Walsh as Volunteer of the Month. Walsh is a patient care volunteer who gives his time to patients receiving hospice care and to individuals who participate in Bridges, Compass Regional Hospice’s non-medical support program that assists patients and families who are making decisions about when and how to move from curative to comfort care.
Walsh was nominated for this recognition by members of the Compass Regional Hospice staff who appreciate his flexibility and enthusiasm when meeting with patients and families. Courtney Williams, manager of volunteer and professional services, says, “Jack is always willing to lend a listening ear or a helping hand to patients and their families and we are grateful to have him as part of our team.”
Compass Regional Hospice relies on more than 300 volunteers of all ages to perform administrative tasks, assist with events, visit patients and lend a hand in the gardens at the Hospice Center located at 255 Comet Drive in Centreville. Volunteers also operate Estate Treasures, an upscale resale shop that raises funds for Compass Regional Hospice.
