Poor Richard’s Sails Into 2015

Richard Keaveney and James Brown at Poor Richard’s were so satisfied with business at their High Street store that they have renewed their lease and look forward to 2015.

“We’re very excited about what we’re seeing happen in Chestertown,” Keaveney says.

Keaveney remarks that he’s been watching a “restaurant revolution” take place as the Kitchen at the Imperial and the sushi restaurant Café Sado open, and Luisa’s reopens in a new location. He adds that people should also pay attention to the up and coming Molly Mason operation north of town toward Kennedyville on Rt. 213.

“This is all help make Chestertown a culinary destination and, along with movement toward achieving an Arts and Entertainment District designation, we’re headed in a direction that should help us all,” he says.

Keaveny opened his store last summer to “test the waters” with a short term lease and offered furniture, antiques and art objects, many from his own collection. The larger pieces, he noted, were purchased more by visitors from Washington and Philadelphia.

“We want to test out a wider spectrum of offerings. Now we’ll be focusing more on gift items with a flair for the fun,” he says. “But we will still carry some fine furniture and few antiques as they come along.

We’re listening to the community and look forward to a great year in Chestertown.”
