People’s Bank and Queenstown Bank recently announced a reward of $10,000 for the arrest and conviction of the suspect responsible for bank robberies in Church Hill and Millington.
According to a news release issued by Maryland State Police:
“Investigators from the MSP Criminal Enforcement Division are investigating two armed bank robberies which both occurred in Queen Anne’s County. On October 23, 2014, at approximately 11:30 AM, an armed robbery occurred at the Queenstown Bank located at 400 Block of Main Street, Church Hill and on November 28, 2014 at approximately 12:30 PM, an armed robbery occurred at The Peoples Bank located in the 3000 block of River Road, Millington. An unknown suspect entered both banks, displayed a weapon and demanded currency from the tellers. The suspect is described as a black male with facial hair, approximately 5’7” to 5’9”, 170-180 lbs (medium build) utilizing a disguise during both robberies. Preliminary investigation has led investigators to believe that these robberies were committed by the same person due to similar physical characteristics of the suspect and also certain gestures which were made during both robberies.

Earlier MSP reports of the Millington robbery described the robber as “wearing a fake black beard, flannel jacket with a black hooded sweat shirt, black pants, gray brimmed hat, black sunglasses and black leather gloves. Suspect was last seen fleeing the bank on a blue bicycle with an undisclosed amount of US Currency towards the area of River Park Road then entering a silver/gray passenger vehicle (unknown make or model) with no front license plate. The vehicle was then seen traveling in the area of east bound Rt 291 towards the town of Millington driven by another unknown suspect.”
Ralph Dowling, President/CEO of The Peoples Bank, commended the tellers at both banks for their professional response under dangerous conditions.
“We’ve also upgraded our security systems. They were top-level before but we’ve taken some extra measures with newer technology,” Dowling said.
Dowling hopes that the reward will encourage someone to step forward with information leading to the arrest of the suspect.
