Town Meets With State Over $4M Marina Revitalization Request

December 2, 2014 by James Dissette

Share

Mayor Chris Cerino, Town Manager Bill Ingersoll, and Zoning Administrator Kees deMooy met with members of Governor O’Malley’s Department of Budget and Management on Monday, December 1 to discuss Chestertown’s $4 million request for a 2015 capital project to revitalize the marina.

In the following video, Mayor Cerino discusses the meeting during Monday’s town council meeting. He notes that making such a request during a gubernatorial transition complicates the issue but feels that the town’s proposal was met positively. Were the request to be included in Gov. O’Malley’s 2015 budget proposal, a new governor would have to approve it.

Additionally, Mayor Cerino requested that the Council approve $4,000 for digital renderings of the marina project to be created by professional artists. The renderings would be useful no matter the outcome if the capital project, Cerino said. “It would be good for anybody we apply to moving forward,”
